To enhance student engagement in the learning process through an interactive and collaborative approach, the Faculty is introducing Team-Based Learning (TBL).

Traditionally, medical, nursing, and pharmacy students were educated in separate learning environments. Today, interprofessional education (IPE) is recognised as a vital component of healthcare training, supporting collaborative practice that improves patient outcomes and promotes patient safety.

As healthcare delivery becomes increasingly complex, effective collaboration among healthcare professionals is essential. At CU Medicine, medical students learn alongside peers from Nursing, Pharmacy, Chinese Medicine, Public Health, and Biomedical Sciences. This early exposure enables students to develop an understanding of different professional roles, perspectives, and expertise, fostering mutual respect, effective communication, and collaborative decision-making.

To cultivate these competencies, IPE is integrated from Year 1 of the curriculum. Early engagement helps students build relationships across disciplines, develop a shared understanding of professional responsibilities, and establish strong teamwork and communication skills. By breaking down traditional professional silos, IPE prepares students to work more effectively in multidisciplinary teams and deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
