3. Technology-Enhanced Education & Artificial Intelligence

Advanced technologies are transforming medical education and preparing future doctors for increasingly complex healthcare challenges. To enhance teaching and learning, CU Medicine has integrated Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its curriculum.

VR enhances experiential learning by immersing students in various clinical scenarios. While conventional simulation remains essential for practising hands-on procedures, simulation laboratories cannot fully replicate the complexity of real healthcare settings. VR bridges this gap by placing learners in immersive scenarios that mirror the noise, visual cues, and team dynamics of actual practice. In this way, VR offers a meaningful rehearsal of clinical reality.

AI creates new possibilities through open-ended interaction. It can respond to students’ written answers, guide them through case-based questions, and provide feedback in real time. This creates a new way to assess students’ understanding of course materials, moving beyond reliance on examinations or test scores alone.

To ensure educational relevance and accuracy, CU Medicine has developed its own AI model aligned with faculty teaching materials and curriculum objectives. This helps provide consistent guidance and reduces potential confusion caused by variations in medical terminology or interpretation.
